My 2019 in Books

This was the year I read for fun again. Though I was an avid reader throughout childhood, I got out of the habit after entering high school and was far too busy in college to ever read anything other than what was assigned for class. So, after starting to get back into the rhythm after graduation and only reading a couple books in 2018, I made it a number one priority in 2019 to read ten books and actually succeeded (!!)—finishing my last book on the morning of the last day of the year no less.

A mix of fiction and non-fiction, borrowed and bought, thrillers and somewhat snoozers, recommendations and personal interests, each book on the following list added something to my year. They kept me company on my daily commute between the suburbs and the city, at multiple beaches, during long plane rides, and before bed. Here they are, in the context-less order that I read them:

  1. The Woman in the Window, A. J. Finn

  2. Are You Sleeping?, Kathleen Barber

  3. The Good Girl, Mary Kubica

  4. The Last Romantics, Tara Conklin

  5. Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy, Martin Lindstrom

  6. The Hill to Die On: the Battle for Congress and the Future of Trump's America, Anna Palmer + Jake Sherman

  7. Outer Order, Inner Calm, Gretchen Rubin (to help reorganize after that chaotic book above...)

  8. Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls

  9. Becoming, Michelle Obama

  10. Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter, Kate Clifford Larson

I've already begun my first book of 2020, so here's me reclaiming my "avid reader" status (obviously the lowest tier, but I'll continue working my way back up!)
